How to Feel a Feeling

During this exercise we're going to go through NAP, a process to help you "feel your feelings." As you learn this skill and practice it, it becomes a super power.

Because when you aren't afraid to feel anything, you can DO anything. When you aren't afraid of a feeling, when you have a tool to manage a feeling, you no longer need to try to manage external circumstances to keep from feeling negative emotions.

The NAP Framework

1

Name It

What are you feeling right now? You don't need the perfect word. Just get close. Angry, anxious, disappointed, hurt, overwhelmed.

2

Allow It

For the next few minutes, you don't have to change this feeling. You don't have to talk yourself out of it. Just let it be here.

3

Process It

Find it in your body. Where is it? What shape is it? Does it move? What color? Temperature? Just notice.
